Water Feature and Shrine Gate Dedicated by the People of Iga

A water feature and a shrine gate dedicated by the Iga-shu （people of Iga）, who collectively ruled this area between the 17th and late 19th centuries. The Iga-shu used to be a group of ninjas who had lived in Iga until the 16th century, however, they lived in Edo by then and were commissioned to rule this area by the shogun of the Tokugawa shogunate. Both are made of stone and were built in 1849. The only remains of the shrine gate are the columns on both sides. The lower front part of the water feature has the names of the 9 main figures of the Iga-shu, and the shrine gate features the names of 99 members of the Iga-shu.
